Fox News Posts Photo of Patti Labelle Instead of Aretha Franklin, Later Says Sorry
While paying tribute to Aretha Franklin in the wake of her death on Thursday, Fox News made a huge error. They mistakenly broadcasted a photo of Patti Labelle when they meant to show Aretha.
The mistake came at the conclusion of highlights and performances Fox News aired hours after the Queen of Soul’s death. After airing the highlights package, they posted graphic art in memory of Aretha with a photo of her in the forefront and a performance photo of Patti Labelle edited in the background. The graphic was quickly captured by viewers and posted on social media.
Fox News has since apologized for their mistake. “We sincerely apologize to Aretha Franklin’s family and friends,” said Fox News Vice President, Media Desk Jessica Santostefano.
