Toni Braxton Reveals She Was Upset She Had To Pay Ex-Husband Alimony – Men are the new b*tches…”

Toni Braxton is the latest guest on Jada Pinkett-Smith’s online show Red Table Talk and she had a lot of tea to spill.

In the episode, the songstress discussed her divorce from husband and founding member of Mint Condition, Keri Lewis, whom she was with for 12 years before the pair split in 2013. She says that after the initial split in 2009, the two even tried to reconcile, which obviously did not work out. On dating her husband, Toni says,

My husband became my boyfriend and we were attempting to salvage the relationship again, we were hopeful,’ she said. ‘We dated for a good year and a half, almost two years after we got a divorce. Like immediately. I know it sounds crazy, right?

Toni admits that she hated being divorced.

I hated being divorced. I hated everything about it. I hated having to surrender to the loss. Everyone’s like,’you have to accept it at this stage.’ I feel like I lost, I’m waving the white flag.

Jada then asked Toni if she had to pay alimony.

Yes, I had to pay alimony. I was one of those girls. There’s a couple of us that I know. There’s me, there’s Brittany (Spears), Halle (Berry), Mary (J. Blige) allegedly. I was very very angry about that, but it was because we had an existing prenup and post-nup. 

[I was angry] because I wanted to reneg. I’m gonna be honest. I thought he should say no. [But] if it were reversed and a guy had more, we would expect him to make sure the lady’s okay, we would expect that. So I can’t really b*tch about it too much, however, semi-colon, that’s a tough pill.

I went through this phase of, ‘oooh, men are the new b*tches!’ That’s how I felt. That’s what I was so angry about.

Braxton has since moved on and is now engaged to Birdman. It seems like everything works out in the end.
