Aziz Ansari Addresses Sexual Misconduct Allegations: It’s A Terrifying Thing To Talk About
Aziz Ansari Explains Why He Was Terrified To Talk About Sexual Misconduct Allegations
Aziz Ansari‘s comedic career was in jeopardy following sexual misconduct allegations in 2018, but even trouble doesn’t always last. Ansari is easing his way back onto the comedy stage by holding pop-up shows in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and more recently New York.

These mini shows are designed to be an intimate space for Ansari to test new material; and to ensure content isn’t leaked prematurely, attendees are required to place their phones in pouches before the show begins.
A part of his new material, Ansari addressed the damaging misconduct allegation and how he processed the entire ordeal. He stated,
It’s a terrifying thing to talk about. There were times I felt really upset and humiliated and embarrassed, and ultimately I just felt terrible this person felt this way. But you know, after a year, how I feel about it is, I hope it was a step forward. It made me think about a lot, and I hope I’ve become a better person.
He added how a conversation with a friend opened his eyes wider:
If that has made not just me but other guys think about this, and just be more thoughtful and aware and willing to go that extra mile, and make sure someone else is comfortable in that moment, that’s a good thing.”
How the allegations could have potentially ended his career:
There was a moment where I was scared that I’d never be able to do this again. You canceled whatever you were supposed to do tonight, and you came out in the cold, and you waited in line, and you put your phone in a stupid pouch. You did all this shit just to hear me talk for an hour and some change, and it means the world to me, so thank you so much.
According to reports, Ansari has plans to go on an international comedic tour soon but will be performing comedy – within the U.S. – in the Spring.
