Jussie Smollett Attack – 2 Men Arrested Who Were ‘Empire’ Extras
The case surrounding Empire star Jussie Smollett’s attack has taken several twists and turns in the last few days, but the latest development has culminated in the official arrest of the two men Chicago police believe are responsible.
Two Nigerian brothers, named Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo, have officially been arrested on battery charges in connection to the attack on Jussie Smollett a few weeks ago. The brothers were initially described as persons of interest by police and brought in for questioning earlier this week.
Their home was also raided, and police found a lot of incriminating evidence that aligns with Smollett’s version of what happened. When police searched the home of the Osundairo brothers, they reportedly found 5 bottles of bleach, a red hat, 2 laptops, as well as other items they perceive to be evidence in the case.
Chicago police say that the next step is to possibly have Smollett participate in a line-up to see if he can confirm that the Osundairo brothers (nicknamed Ola and Abel) were his attackers. However, this could prove to be problematic because Smollett has stated that the men who attacked him were white and shouted “MAGA country” at him. Smollett did state that the men seen in the grainy night footage previously released are definitely his attackers, but police have not yet confirmed that they are the recently arrested brothers.
Ola was on the second season of Empire, where he played a prison inmate. Abel also says he worked on the show at some point. It’s unclear exactly how well they know Smollett or any other cast members on the show. The brothers were arrested at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, it’s unknown if they were trying to leave the state to avoid arrest.
