Jussie Smollett’s ‘Empire’ Role Drastically Cut
The fallout from claims that Empire star Jussie Smollett allegedly staged the attack against him are just beginning—and now, his day job is directly impacted. Reportedly, Smollett’s upcoming scenes for the final Empire episodes of the season have been drastically cut down, decreasing his overall time on set.
As new (and unfortunately damaging) details continue to unravel involving Jussie Smollett’s alleged attack, it was expected that his role on the hit FOX series Empire would be jeopardized at some point. Reportedly, Smollett’s screen time on the show has been cut down severely, causing show writers to work overtime to churn out rewrites to the final episodes of season five.
Inside sources reportedly revealed that Smollett was scheduled to be in nine scenes and a musical number in the second to the last episode of the season, which is currently being shot, however five of his scenes have been cut, as well as his musical number.
For the four scenes he is currently still apart of, he’s no longer the focus as originally intended. Since a number of his scenes have been cut, Smollett’s time on set will be much less. He was initially scheduled to work every day this week, but that has changed to working only possibly on Thursday 2/21 and working on Friday 2/22, he also won’t be rehearsing as usual.
As for the current developments in his case, law enforcement sources stated earlier this week that Smollett’s case could be headed to the grand jury, which could lead to a felony indictment for Smollett for filing a false police report.
Do you think Jussie Smollett’s screen time on Empire should be cut? Do you think he could be fired from the show? Let us know in the comments.
