Eddie Murphy Negotiating $70 Million Deal With Netflix For Comedy Specials
Eddie Murphy may be returning to the comedy stage sooner than we think and with a massive payday. Earlier this week, the 58-year-old comedian and actor alluded to his interest in returning to comedy, noting that when the time is right, he’d get back on stage. He revealed this in a Netflix clip of Jerry Seinfeld‘sComedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Seinfeld asks Murphy,
“You know that you not doing stand-up drives people crazy — you know that, right?”
Murphy explains that before the late comedian Don Rickles passed, he told him that he needs to return to stand-up. He says,
“I’m going to do it again. Everything just has to be right. You have to get up there and start working out. [I] still gotta go to the comedy club.”
According to reports, Murphy is in talks to do multiple comedy specials with Netflix. Allegedly, the negotiations are are around $70 MILLION for the deal.
Chris Rock was reportedly paid $40 Million for his two Netflix specials.
