Queen Latifah Cast As Ursula In ‘The Little Mermaid’ Musical, Shaggy To Play Sebastian
While fans wait to hear more casting details on the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid as it heads to the big screen, ABC is coming out with its own The Little Mermaid musical made for TV.
And in its first round of promos, it revealed Queen Latifah will be playing the antagonist Ursula.
Queen Latifah also confirmed the news on social media.
“Fortunately I know a little magic.” Excited to be a part of The Wonderful World of Disney Presents The Little Mermaid Live! #Ursula #TheLittleMermaid#TeamSeaWitch .”

And that’s not all. Grammy-award winning singer Shaggy will play Sebastian.

Ariel will be played by Auli’i Cravalho, who was the voice of Moana in the Disney film of the same name.

Meanwhile, a live-action The Little Mermaid film is also in the works. So far, Halle Bailey of musical duo Chloe X Halle and Freeform’s grown-ish has been cast as the lead role of Ariel.
