R.Kelly Missed Court Hearing Because of Toenail Infection
R.Kelly did not appear in court on Wednesday (Oct. 30th). He was set to attend a federal court hearing, but did not appear due to a toenail infection, according to his attorney Steven Greenberg. The singer’s lawyer says that his toenail removed and he doesn’t want anyone to step on his foot, as he’s currently in a walking boot.
The court appearance was part of a status hearing in R. Kelly’s federal case in Illinois.
R.Kelly is currently being held without bond in Chicago. He is facing separate federal grand jury indictments in Illinois and New York. The indictments allege the singer recruited women for sex, persuaded people to conceal that he had sexual contact with teenage girls and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars buying back videotapes that prosecutors say are incriminating.
Kelly has denied allegations and all charges.
His lawyer has filed a motion to have obstruction of justice charges against Kelly and Derrel McDavid, his former business partner, removed.
Their next hearing will be February 13.
