Swae Lee Opens Up On His Step Father’s Murder – “I’ve Been Tested My Whole Life”

The stepfather of hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd (Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee) was fatally shot in Tupelo, Mississippi, on Monday night (Jan. 6th). Slim Jximmi and Swae Lee’s younger half-brother, 19, has been reportedly held in Tupelo police custody for psychiatric review in connection to 62-year-old Floyd Sullivan’s murder.

On Tuesday (Jan. 7th), Swae Lee, 26, took to his Instagram stories sharing a message on how his stepfather’s murder has affected him. He begins,

”Life has a crazy way of making you stay on your toes.”

He then touches on his stepfather’s legacy,

“OG gone live forever.”

Swae Lee adds more on Twitter on Tuesday (Jan. 7), first using four broken heart emojis writing,

“I pray this world let’s me keep some compassion.”

Hours later he writes,

”I’ve been tested my whole life.”

Swae Lee’s brother, Slim Jxmmi of Rae Sremmurd posted cryptic messages on Instagram Tuesday addressing those that turn their back on family.

The rap duo’s stepfather and mother, Bernardette all moved to Mississippi with Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi, when the boys were in middle school. Back in 2016, the duo touched on how their stepfather keep their eyes on education.

“He was doing whatever he had to do. Keeping us in school, getting us to school.”

Soon after finishing high school the boys eventually signed a record deal to Mike Will Made It’s label which placed Rae Sremmurd on the music scene.

Our prayers are with the Sullivan and Brown family.
