The wait is finally over and Issa Rae’s hit series “Insecure” is officially back for its 4th season. Issa Rae celebrated the premiere by having a virtual watch party on Instagram live with a few of her fellow castmates and friends. During the live stream, the star and executive producer was joined by her co-star, 36-year-old Yvonne Orji. The two actresses both expressed their excitement about the show returning and shared a few behind the scenes stories.

Yvonne Oriji said,

“[coming back] felt like a class reunion. It felt like the band was back.”

During their conversation, the two ladies also spoke about what it was like having Kerry Washington come and direct an episode. Issa Rae joked,

“I don’t know what kind of quality you use to at Scandal, but you at Insecure baby.”

Yvonne Orji continued the joke by saying,

“It’s bare minimum over here!”

Issa also shared how seriously Kerry Washington took her role as director.

“She was not playing. When directors come on they’re like ‘Oh the characters got it. The actors got it. They’ve been living with this character longer then I have so I’m going to focus on this.’ But she was just like ‘I respect you guys’ characters. I watch the show, but let’s try this.’”

This isn’t Kerry Washington’s first time in the director’s seat. She previously directed an episode of her former show, ABC’s “Scandal”, and for the series “SMILF”. Kerry Washington announced this past November that she would be directing an episode of “Insecure.”

She directed episode 9, which will air later on this season.
