Erykah Badu Debuts New Hairstyle [Photos]
Singer, songwriter, and record producer Erykah Badu (Erica Abi Wright) recently uploaded a set of pictures on social media debuting her latest look – twists. In the uploaded pictures, the 49-year-old singer showed her followers different angles of her new short hairstyle, which features assorted colored rubber bands at the end. In Erykah Badu fashion, she also provides a sense of humor in her selfies, while captioning:
“ Keep playin …”
“I smile wit my whole body.”
Check out Erykah Badu’s latest look, below.
Before switching to twists, Erykah Badu previously wore a similar, but longer hairstyle with braids. With that look, Badu sported to lip accessories and a bull-like nose ring.
On a separate occasion, her hair was in a pair of long, black twist-like ponytails, while Badu posed for a selfie.
Outside of rocking different looks on a regular, Badu has managed to find ways to stay busy during quarantine lockdown. It was previously reported that Badu had launched her own livestream program (April 25), as a way to generate income for herself and her staff, who is used to touring eight months out the year. When she started her streaming service, Badu charged viewers $1-$3 fees to watch her perform, rather than using Instagram Live or YouTube or other conventional avenues.
It was also noted that fans were interested in Badu going head-to-head with singer Lauryn Hill, in a Verzuz battle.
Created by legendary producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz, Verzuz is a platform that allows artists to battle it out over who has the most hits.
After each artist played a song, viewers, then, decided which song they liked better. When this opportunity was suggested to Badu by a follower, she wasn’t sure if going against Lauryn Hill was the best thing to do. To that follower, Badu replied:
“I’ll be pulverized..”
Instead, Badu went on to battle fellow soulful singer, Jill Scott, in a pre Mother’s Day celebration on May 9th.
