Tiger Woods – L.A. County Sheriff Gets Search Warrant For Black Box In Golfer’s SUV, Probable Cause Crime Was Committed In Crash

The fallout of Tiger Woods’ car crash isn’t over yet.

While the L.A. County Sheriff previously said the pro-golfer wouldn’t face charges after he got into a serious accident earlier this month, new reports state that the Sheriff has gotten a search warrant in relation to the incident.

Tiger Woods was behind the wheel of a 2021 Genesis GV80 when he swerved on the median, veered off the road, and hit a tree before the car flipped over.

According to TMZ, a judge said there is probable cause that a crime was committed. A crime wasn’t actually listed on the warrant, but a judge can’t legally sign on a search warrant unless probable cause exists. The warrant did state that there was no evidence his driving was impaired. It’s speculated that either someone in the Sheriff’s Department went to speak to the judge about the warrant, or the judge looked at reports and came to the conclusion on their own.

The warrant reportedly points out that there weren’t any skid marks and that the SUV ran into objects before it actually stopped. Tiger Woods’ car was also the only vehicle involved in the crash. Officials say this could point to excessive speed, but “reckless driving” isn’t noted on the warrant.

Former police detective Jonathan Cherney, who often serves as an expert witness in court cases, previously told USA Today that Woods might have fallen asleep at the wheel.

“To me, this is like a classic case of falling asleep behind the wheel, because the road curves and his vehicle goes straight.

He added,

“It’s a drift off the road, almost like he was either unconscious, suffering from a medical episode or fell asleep and didn’t wake up until he was off the road and that’s where the brake application came in.”
