‘Coming 2 America’ Is Amazon’s 1st Project To Lead Streaming Rankings, 1.41 Billion Minutes Were Watched In The 1st Week
Coming 2 America might have received mixed reactions, but the numbers are talking in its favor.
It is now Amazon’s first-ever project to top streaming rankings, according to a new report from Nielsen.
The sequel, which premiered on March 5th, topped streaming rankings for the week of March 1 – March 7 thanks to 1.41 billion minutes of viewing time.
The film sold to Amazon for $125 million after not being released in theaters due to COVID-19.
In February, star Arsenio Hall said he and Eddie Murphy once vowed to never do a sequel to the cult classic.
“It took 30 years because we never planned on doing it. In fact, we shook and said, ‘Let’s never do a sequel.’ We were so happy with it. It was perfect, we’re never going to mess with it.”
