During the minute long trailer, Patti LaBelle, 78, not only let loose and joked about ‘smoking reefer,’ but it appears she also opened up and talked about her career, rumored feud with Aretha Franklin, and even spills some tea on the late Luther Vandross. By the end of the trailer, Patti says she was able to “cleanse herself” during the interview.
In a quick snippet, Patti LaBelle seemingly sets the record straight on the long rumored feud with Aretha Franklin. The ‘Lady Marmalade’ singer said,
“Me and Aretha, we were good.”

She also revealed that her friend, late singer Luther Vandross allegedly got into the music industry by selling Patti LaBelle clothes. In the trailer, she joked and said,
“I heard he was stealing them.”
This wouldn’t be the first time Patti spoke about her friend Luther. Back in 2017, Patti LaBelle got candid about Luther Vandross’ sexuality during an interview on “Watch What Happens Live.” LaBelle shares how she first met the late singer–who died in 2005–and also revealed that he struggled with his sexuality and officially coming out as a gay man. She explained,
“We talked about it. Basically, he did not want his mother to be… although she might have known, but he wasn’t going to come out and say this to the world. And he had a lot of lady fans and he told me he just didn’t want to upset the world.”
By the end of the trailer, Patti LaBelle admits that she probably revealed too much information during her ‘Drink Champs‘ interview. She said,
“I cleansed myself today on this show. I said a lot of things that I probably shouldn’t have, but I don’t care. I said it and I feel good about being here.”
