Clenney was arrested in Hawaii, but will be extradited to Miami to face trial. Her lawyer, Frank Prieto said she was in Hawaii in rehabilitation for substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder, while adding:
“I’m completely shocked, especially since we were cooperating with the investigation and offered to voluntarily surrender her if she were charged. We look forward to clearing her name in court.”
The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office said in a press release that they will detail the arrest during a press conference slated on Thursday afternoon. Miami police enforcement have been investigating Clenney after the killing of her boyfriend for four months.
The story went viral, as many called for her arrest back in April on social media. Obumseli’s family also called for her arrest since April, telling the public they did not believe he was a threat to Clenney. Courtney Clenney reported the murder as self-defense during a domestic dispute in their apartment.

Courtney and Obumseli were reported to have been together for two years, and in that time had a contentious relationship. Clenney was arrested for domestic battery in Las Vegas, and police were called to their Austin, Texas home on repeat occasions.
Two days before his death, police responded to the apartment on April 1 for a domestic disturbance call.
