In a recent interview with Kevin Frazier, Kenan Thompson updated his fans on where he and Kel Mitchell are with “Good Burger 2.” Kenan Thompson shared:
“We’re getting really close on Good Burger 2.”
Kenan Thompson admitted:
“It’s gonna happen, and I think it’s gonna happen soon. We’re gonna figure out when the pocket of time will be to shoot it, but it’s gonna happen.”
The “Saturday Night Live” star added:
“It’s closer than it’s ever been, so, I don’t think anything is gonna derail it.”
The “All That” actor then revealed a draft of the script has already been written. Kenan said:
“We had a reading, like a little private thing just to hear the script that we’ve been working on, out loud — just with a couple friends and a couple people from Paramount and Nickelodeon, and it was so funny.”

Reports state that it’s been over 25 years since the first film hit theaters. The 44-year-old continued:
“Kel has not missed a step. It’s like old slippers, and that character is just ripe for jokes. We read like, over 100 pages and laughed the whole time. It was so much fun.”
The Georgia native added:
“It’s on and crackin.’ That’s all I can say.”
Actors Kenan and Kel Mitchell pulled off a memorable “Good Burger” mini-reunion at this year’s Emmy Awards, where Kenan was the host. Walking over to a man who seemed to be passed out at the bar, the comedian asked:
“Excuse me, sir, can we get you a drink or something?”
The man, who was then revealed to be Mitchell, sat up and asked:
“You know what, can I get a Good Burger?”
Kenan yelled as he hugged his former co-star Mitchell. He said:
“Make that two Good Burgers! Oh my goodness! Let’s do some kung fu as they roll into the next package!”
Kenan teased:
“Sequel coming next year!”
The actors previously made a joint Instagram post celebrating the “Good Burger’s” 25th anniversary. The caption said:
“25 years ago today great customer service was born? Welcome to Goodburger Home of the Goodburger Can I take your order? Happy 25th Goodburger!!! I love this movie and everyone who worked on it!! So proud to be a part of something so many generations of people have come to love as well!!! ‘Sup wit that Part 2?!”
