Usher Reveals Singer Faith Evans Was His First Crush At 13-Years-Old

Usher always had a thing for mature women, even at age 13.

The superstar performer recently revealed that R&B singer Faith Evans, 49, was his very first crush. Usher, 45, delivered the news in a heartfelt tweet to the singer who he brought out to perform with him during a leg of his Las Vegas Residency.

The 45-year-old Climax singer used the opportunity to pay homage to Faith Evans and share his more than 30-year-old secret.

It was an absolute honor to have you here in Vegas…and give you your much deserved flowers. The First Lady of Bad Boy, the first lady to help me find my way as an artist at 13 in NYC, and my First Crush.

The Grammy-winning singer, whose real name is Usher Raymond IV, and the R&B Diva more than likely met when they were both working with singer Al B. Sure and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. Both were teens but on opposite ends of the age range – Usher, 13, and Faith, 18. Their paths eventually diverged as they got older, and their careers grew.

After losing her husband Christopher “Notorious BIG” Wallace, Faith remarried twice – music executive Todd Russaw (1998 – 2011) and singer/producer Stevie J (2018). In November 2021, the Love and Hip Hop star filed for divorce from his wife despite rumors of infidelity. A couple of months later, he returned to Faith and declared his love, seemingly trying to make things work. Faith, however, is moving forward with the dissolution of her marriage, according to recent reports.

Usher has also gone through some ups and downs in love. At 25, he dated TLC’s Rozonda “Chili” Thomas who was seven years his senior for two years. After that, he married twice – to the stylist Tameka Foster (2007-2009) and to the music executive Grace Miguel (2015-2018). The ‘You Remind Me’ singer is now in a serious relationship with Jennifer Goicoechea, Director of Rhythm and Soul at ASCAP.

While it seems their paths may never cross in the romance department, it is great to see Usher give his long-time friend her flowers. It was something that she also appreciated. In a Tweet, the ‘Soon As I Get Home’ singer shared,

“Thank you lil big bro for having me tonight! So happy for you & proud of your ascension!”
