Update: Boxer George Foreman Countersues Sexual Abuse Accuser For Defamation

Update: (Jan. 24, 2023): New details have surfaced surrounding the sexual abuse allegations George Foreman is facing.

According to reports, the retired boxer is claiming that the woman accusing him of sexually abusing her when she was a minor — over 45 years ago — is lying. Foreman filed a countersuit Monday (Jan. 23) against the accuser, Gwen H., for unspecified damages.

Reportedly, Foreman acknowledges that he can’t pursue legal action against Gwen for the allegations noted in her lawsuit, however, he claims she stepped outside that protection when she held a news conference about the alleged abuse last year. During the news conference, she stated,

“He asked me to remove my clothes, and if I didn’t then my father would be fired, so I complied.”

According to Foreman’s countersuit, his accuser’s allegations are “entirely fabricated” and she has “zero corroborating evidence in the form of documents, photographs, letters, or witnesses to support Gwen’s false claims against Foreman.”

The suit adds that Gwen is,

“hoping that the passage of time will excuse her complete lack of evidence.”

Foreman also says that before Gwen filed her “bogus claims” in a lawsuit, she allegedly demanded more than $12 million from him in order to stop her from going public. He claims to have suffered from “anxiety, sleeplessness, worry, shock, and humiliation” since Gwen’s news conference.

Original story: (Aug. 26, 2022): Two women who accused George Foreman of sexually abusing them in the 1970s are now suing the former heavyweight boxing champion.

As previously reported, sexual allegations against George Foreman first became public in July. Two women came forward and announced plans to file a lawsuit against the boxing legend for allegedly raping them as teenagers. The women reportedly met George Foreman, 73, through their fathers, who allegedly had a friendship and business relationship with him decades ago. However, in a statement George Foreman denied the allegations against him and said,

“Over the past six months, two women have been trying to extort millions of dollars each from me and my family. They are falsely claiming that I sexually abused them over 45 years ago in the 1970s. I adamantly and categorically deny these allegations. The pride I take in my reputation means as much to me as my sports accomplishments, and I will not be intimidated by baseless threats and lies.”

Foreman added,

“I am, and always will be, guided by my faith and trust in God. I will work with my lawyers to fully and truthfully expose my accusers’ scheme and defend myself in court. I don’t pick fights, but I don’t run away from them either.”

According to new reports, the women filed separate lawsuits in Los Angeles Superior Court for alleged sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress on August 24. The suit said their fathers worked with Foreman, who started grooming them as children. The pair claimed they were assaulted in California years after initially meeting him as then-teenagers. Both women, Gwen H. and Denise S., are seeking $25 million each.

Reportedly, the lawsuits were filed as the result of a California law that went into effect in 2020 that temporarily waives the statute of limitations that had prevented victims of childhood sexual abuse from filing civil lawsuits. The women, now in their early 60s, allege they suffer “physical and mental pain and suffering” that they discovered at an unspecified date.

Los Angeles resident Denise S. accused Foreman of grooming her when she was 8 years old and having sex with her when she was 15. The suit said the professional boxer allegedly raped her several times in 1976 and on one occasion in a San Francisco hotel room.

Nevada resident Gwen H. said she first met Foreman when she was 9 years old and accused him of sexually abusing and raping her when she was 15 and 16 years old. In one instance, the abuse allegedly took place at an apartment in Beverly Hills. She claimed he threatened to fire her father if she did not comply, who was a longtime advisor to the Olympic gold medalist.
