Jasmine Guy Earns First Emmy Nomination For ‘Chronicles Of Jessica Wu’
Veteran actress Jasmine Guy has scored her first Emmy nomination!
The nominations for the 75th annual Emmy Awards were announced today (Jul. 12) and a familiar face was included on the list of first-time nominees. Beloved actress Jasmine Guy, 61, is nominated in the “Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series” category for her role in “Chronicles of Jessica Wu.” According to IMDb, the Tubi series centers around “ a young girl on the Autism spectrum who has mastered martial arts. She becomes a Hero in her city and takes down some of the most ruthless villains in Los Angeles.” Jasmine Guy’s character Barbara Baldwin appears in an episode titled “Wanna Get Away?”

Despite this being her first Emmy nomination, Jasmine Guy is no stranger to playing an iconic character. Most know the Boston native from her time on “A Different World” as Whitley Gilbert. She portrayed the spoiled Southern belle for all six seasons of the popular scripted series.
Jasmine Guy has yet to publicly speak on her first Emmy nomination, however, fans of the entertainer have taken to Twitter to express shock that she hasn’t been considered for the prestigious award before now. One fan wrote,
“Awesome but it’s incredible that she received nothing for Whitley Gilbert.”

Another said,
“Hold up!!! Tubi getting folk Emmy Nominations!? Stop playing with her!”
