Update: Cardi B’s Team Says Her Accusations Against LAPD & Her Plan To Sue Were ‘Taken Out Of Context’: ‘There Is No Truth To This Story’
Update (March 28, 2024): Cardi B’s team is setting the record straight after she said she was suing LAPD for mistreating her while trying to arrest her for drugs.
In a statement to Billboard, her team said,
“This IG live was taken out of context and there is no truth to this story. Apologies for any confusion.”
Original Story (March 26, 2024): Cardi B is ready to take legal action against the Los Angeles Police Department.
The “Bodak Yellow” rapper took to Instagram Live on Monday (March 25) to air out her grievances against the LAPD, recalling a time when they allegedly mistreated her while trying to arrest her for drug trafficking.
She said of the alleged incident, which reportedly happened earlier this month.
“They had all the helicopters in L.A. Yo, I was freaking out. They had me outside for like three hours. They had me getting butt-naked outside.”
She added,
“Yo, like, sh*twas crazy. It was deada** a movie and whatever but you already know.”
Cardi B, 31, then said she plans to “sue”, noting that she tried to use her star power to convince them she didn’t “need” to sell drugs.
“I’m bout to sue the LAPD. I told them like, ‘yo, I’m Cardi B. Like do I look like I gotta sell some sh*t? Like why would I do that? I would never pull no sh*t like that.'”
She continued,
“They didn’t believe me. It was some White cops and they ain’t know who I was. It was really tough on me and everything. They said somebody gave them a clue. I really feel like it was one of my opps and sh*t, like they really trying to ruin my life type sh*t. Like y’all don’t even f**king know. I been going through a lot lately.”
No word on when Cardi B plans to file the lawsuit.
