Singer Kesha Permanently Changes ‘Tik Tok’ Lyrics Amid Diddy’s Sexual Abuse Scandal & Federal Investigation
Kesha is remixing her own hit, “TiK ToK,” with a permanent lyrical change.
The 37-year-old singer announced on Instagram that she is updating the famous line from her 2009 debut single, changing “wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy” to “wake up in the morning like f*** P. Diddy.”

She expressed her enthusiasm for the change, stating,
“I absolutely love the new lyric change. (Shout out to @reneerapp) Yes it is permanent. I will re-record it when I have legal rights to!”
Kesha reflected on the song’s evolution, noting,
“TiK ToK was the first single that I put into this world that had my voice AND my name credited!!!! 15 years later, I see this song as a snapshot into the way I saw the world at the time.”

Kesha’s decision to update the lyrics followed a headline-grabbing performance at Coachella in April, where she altered the lyrics during a guest appearance with singer Reneé Rapp, shouting,
“Wake up in the morning like… f*** P. Diddy!”
The performance featured both singers raising their middle fingers in defiance.

The change comes amid ongoing controversy surrounding hip-hop mogul Diddy, who is currently said to be under federal criminal investigation in New York.

The probe, which reportedly involves allegations of abuse, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and drug-related offenses, has intensified with recent developments, including witness testimonies and evidence from raids on Diddy’s properties.

This investigation follows multiple civil lawsuits against Diddy, including those from his ex-girlfriend Cassie and other accusers.

Kesha’s decision to amend the lyrics reflects her personal stance, most likely rooted in her own experiences. She previously filed a 2014 lawsuit against music producer Dr. Luke, alleging sexual, emotional, and verbal abuse.

After years of twists and turns, Kesha and Dr. Luke released a joint statement on June 22, 2023, announcing that they had officially reached a settlement, about a month before the case was set to go to trial.
