Eve Says She ‘Got A Call’ After Sharing Jay-Z’s Old Remarks About Her Debut Album & The Limited Success Of Female Rappers
Looks like Eve is still clearing up wrong interpretations of a discussion she had with Jay-Z back in the day.
The rapper recently hinted that she was contacted by either the billionaire or someone from his team over the matter, as the public has continued to react to advice he once gave her about not expecting to excel as a female rapper.

As we’ve previously covered, an excerpt from Eve’s recently released memoir Who’s That Girl has been widely discussed on social media, particularly the part about Sean ‘Jay-Z’ Carter attempting to quell expectations of her debut album sales. Though Eve has since clarified that the Roc Nation founder didn’t mean anything negative by his remarks, it seems backlash over the topic had already made its way to Jay-Z’s camp.

During a recent interview with Ebro, the “Gangsta Lovin'” artist addressed media headlines that suggest Jay-Z was attempting to “discourage her” through the conversation, stating:
“If you read the chapter it is so not like that, and I didn’t think in that moment that that man was trying to discourage me.”
After Ebro chimed in, stating that it seemed to him as if Jay-Z was simply trying to make her aware of “what the challenges were” at that time, Eve vehemently agreed and added:
“For me, I took it as ‘ok I hear you but also, let me see.”

Ebro went on to suggest that he was confused after seeing the headlines because they seemed to be painting a different story from what actually in the book, prompting Eve to respond:
“Yea, I got a phone call!”

The Grammy award winner furthered that she was happy Ebro brought up the topic and gave her an opportunity to clarify things once more as she believes her words were purposefully misconstrued for “click-bait”, adding:
“Jay has always been the biggest supporter of who he supports…it was nothing like that.”
