Dwyane Wade Responds To Harsh Criticism Over His Statue: ‘We Don’t Care’
Dwyane Wade has seen the reactions to his new statue outside the #MiamiHeat arena, and he’s here for the conversation—but unbothered by the critique.
The former NBA star, whose statue was unveiled over the weekend, admitted that he’s aware of the jokes and memes circulating online, but made it clear they don’t faze him:
“The social media world is about opinions… Please talk more about us. Talk more about a statue, come on down to see it, take some photos, send some memes. We don’t care.”
The statue, which took about 800 hours to create, was modeled after Wade’s iconic 2009 buzzer-beater against the Chicago Bulls. Dwyane Wade shared that he doesn’t mind the statue not looking exactly like him, adding,
“If I wanted it to look like me, I’d just stand outside the arena and y’all can take photos.”
While many have shared their opinions, Dwyane Wade is simply grateful for the honor, saying,
“I don’t know a lot of people with a statue. Do you?”
