Update: Oprah Sets Record Straight On ‘Lie’ She Was Paid To Endorse Kamala Harris, Says Payment Went To Production Team For Live-Stream Event
Update: (Nov 12, 2024): Oprah has entered the chat.
As reported, some claimed the media mogul was paid to endorse Kamala Harris during her presidential campaign. This rumor seemingly surfaced from FEC filings that showed Harris for President made two separate payments of $500,000 to Oprah’s production company, Harpo Productions, for “event production.”
Oprah already denied that the money went to her directly, and she even replied to a fan breaking down where the funds went.

Original Story: (Nov 12, 2024): Oprah Winfrey is once again making headlines after denying she was personally paid to endorse Kamala Harris.
Recent FEC filings show that Harris for President made two separate payments of $500,000 to Oprah’s production company, Harpo Productions, for “event production.” However, when Oprah was asked about being paid to endorse Harris, she firmly denied it, stating, “No.”
So, what really happened? It’s likely that Oprah’s production company was hired to produce a town hall event that featured celebrity appearances, an audience, venue/studio costs, equipment, marketing, PR, security, food, and transportation—basically, everything needed to pull off a large-scale event.
However, many people on X (formerly Twitter) aren’t buying Oprah’s explanation, with some claiming she’s lying. One user wrote,
“She’s a liar just like the rest of Hollywood. All bad actors.” Another tweet read, “Oprah has just been caught lying, so how many other things has she been lying about?”

On the other hand, some users provided context, shedding light on the full scope of the situation. One tweet noted, “Harpo was paid to run a livestream event the same way you’d pay a production company to run a rally and now everyone thinks celebs sell endorsements. Oprah was not paid. The internet is a machine that devours trust.” Another added, “It says ‘event production.’ It was a town hall with appearances from Meryl Streep, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jennifer Lopez, and Julia Roberts. That 1 million was for the venue, set, and production.”
