Simpson lost his balance from sobbing in the courtroom after the judge informed him he would remain in jail until his trial.

Under a new law that took effect in December 2024, Simpson is being charged as an adult. This case is one of the first to be prosecuted under the law. His next court date is set for February 18, 2025, although it could change if a grand jury indicts him.
