Jussie Smollett & City Of Chicago Reach Settlement 6 Years After His Alleged Hoax About Racist Attack
The legal drama between Jussie Smollett and the city of Chicago seems to be coming to an end after the actor finally reached a settlement with the city.
Chicago sued Jussie Smollett in 2019 after he claimed to be physically attacked by racist MAGA supporters. Days after his claim, police alleged that he staged the whole thing. They later sued him for $130,000 for the cost of the investigation and accused the “Empire” star of filing a false police report.
Jussie Smollett has maintained that he was attacked and filed a countersuit against the city.
On Monday, April 28, they told the court reached a settlement agreement “but need more time to finalize documentation,” per NBC News.
The details have not been released to the public, however, a status hearing is scheduled for May 29.
