LeBron James To Miss Met Gala Despite Being This Year’s Honorary Chair Due To Knee Injury
LeBron James won’t be showing off his fashions tonight at the Met Gala.
Earlier today (May 5), the NBA star revealed that a knee injury will keep him away from this year’s Met. He wrote:
“Unfortunately because of my knee injury I sustained at the end of the season I won’t be able to attend the Met Gala in NY tonight as so many people have been asking and congratulating me on!”
Sharing that his wife, Savannah James, will still attend as planned, LeBron added:
“Hate to miss an historical event! My beautiful powerful Queen will be there holding the castle down as she always has done!”

As reported, in January, LeBron was named the Honorary Chair of the 2025 Met Gala host committee. Some worried that the NBA playoffs would potentially create a scheduling conflict. However, the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves, seemingly opening up LeBron’s calendar. Despite this, LeBron’s injury means he’ll have to do his fashion big one at next year’s Met Gala.
We’re wishing LeBron a speedy recovery!
