MGK Drops Music Video For New Song ‘Cliché,’ Internet Reacts: ‘They’re Getting Back To Their Roots’
MGK has the internet divided with his latest release, Cliché.
The rapper-turned-rocker released the single and accompanying visuals last week. The music video shows him dancing to the lyrics:
“Tell me, would you wait for me?
Baby, I’m a rolling stone
I got a lotta right in me
But I don’t wanna say this wrong
Tell me, would you stay with me?
Maybe we could make this home
You should run away with me
Even if you’re better off alone (Uh)”

If you’ve been keeping up with the 35-year-old, you already know he dropped the rap sound that pivoted him to stardom back in 2020 with his fifth studio album, Tickets to My Downfall. The project marked MGK’s first full pop-punk release. However, despite switching up his sound five years ago, many internet users were still shocked by MGK’s new single. One person wrote:
“They’re getting back to their roots. I support this.”
Another added:
“I support it but this sh!t *ss, seen someone say how is a white boy cosplaying a white boy and I see it”
What are your thoughts on the record? How do you feel about MGK’s rebrand?
