Illinois Teens Allegedly Be@t Woman Due To Her Sexuality, Charged w/ Hate Crime
An alleged unsettling act of hate has led to criminal charges in Carpentersville, Illinois, where a woman says she was brutally att*cked at a McDonald’s because of her s*xuality.
John Kammrad, 19, and a 16-year-old boy now face multiple charges, including hate crime and aggra@vated battery, for the May 13 ass*ult on Kady Grass. Grass, who identifies as a lesbian, said the alleged v*olence erupted after she exited the restroom and was confronted with anti-gay slurs.
“I just told my cousin to look forward,” she recalled to a local outlet. “Don’t say anything.”
When she confirmed her identity and made a gesture, prosecutors say Kammrad and the teen be@t her, fracturing her nose and causing a hemorrhage in her eye.
“I genuinely think that their plan was to k*ll me,” Grass added.
Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser condemned the att*ck: “Everyone deserves to feel safe in public spaces.” Kammrad returns to court June 27.
