Kimora Lee-Simmons’ Ex-Husband Tim Leissner Sentenced To 2 Years In Prison For Role In $2.7 Billion Fraud Scandal Tied To Bribes, Kickbacks & Lavish Spending

Disgraced former Goldman Sachs banker Tim Leissner was sentenced Thursday to two years in prison for his central role in the multibillion-dollar 1MDB corruption scheme.

Leissner, who pled guilty in 2018 to conspiring to launder money and violate anti-bribery laws, admitted to helping loot over $2.7 billion from Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund alongside financier Jho Low and banker Roger Ng.

“I would turn back time if I could,” Leissner tearfully told the court. “Unfortunately, that is not possible.”

Leissner’s crimes included fabricating email accounts, deceiving colleagues, and lying to his now-estranged wife, Kimora Lee Simmons, about his marital status. He pocketed over $50 million in kickbacks while financing an extravagant lifestyle and the production of “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

Although prosecutors acknowledged his cooperation helped convict Ng, Judge Margo Brodie said it “did not completely make up for the harm and devastation that you knowingly caused.”

Goldman Sachs, which paid $5 billion in penalties, urged a harsh sentence, blasting Leissner for refusing to repay $20.7 million in restitution.

“He extensively lied and has never accepted responsibility,” wrote Goldman’s top lawyer.

Malaysia is now seeking Leissner’s extradition, while Jho Low remains at large.
