Jacksonville, Florida Ranked Most Boring Major City In The U.S.

Some U.S. cities are full of life, others apparently, not so much.

FinanceBuzz recently dropped a list ranking the fun levels of 75 major American cities, and the results might not be what you’d expect! Researchers scored each location based on factors like nightlife, culinary scene, outdoor activities, major events, and local attractions. They also considered how many chain restaurants each city has, as well as the number of concert venues, celebrations, and sports teams per capita.

Taking the No. 1 spot for most boring is Jacksonville, Florida, with an “excitement score” of just 14.3 out of 100. According to the report, Jacksonville lacks a vibrant nightlife, offers few entertainment options, and over half of its restaurants are chains, making it feel more bland than bustling.

Right behind Jacksonville is Wichita, Kansas at No. 2, followed by Corpus Christi, Texas (No. 3), Sioux Falls, South Dakota (No. 4), and Memphis, Tennessee (No. 5). Rounding out the top 10 are San Antonio, Texas (No. 6), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (No. 7), Columbus, Ohio (No. 8), Tallahassee, Florida (No. 9), and Phoenix, Arizona at No. 10.

But not everywhere is a snoozefest. According to the same report, some of the most exciting cities in the country include Atlanta, Georgia; Las Vegas, Nevada; New York City; Miami and Orlando, Florida; and San Francisco, California, all known for their vibrant nightlife, events, and culture.

So, whether you’re into concerts, food festivals, or just want something to do on the weekends, the city you call home might be saying a lot more about your social life than you think.
