TikTok Building New Version Of App For U.S. Users Ahead Of Expected Sale
TikTok for U.S. users may look a little different soon.
Over the weekend, The Information reported that the popular video-sharing platform is preparing a new version of its app exclusively meant for the United States. This news comes ahead of a planned sale to a group of investors. The rumored new version will reportedly be available in early September. As for the TikTok we currently know and love, it’s reported that ByteDance, the Chinese tech company behind the app, aims to have it shut down by March 2026.

This news is just the latest in the long-running story of TikTok facing a ban in America. At one point amid the saga, the app even went dark, but soon came back. President Trump’s recent and final extension on the ban lasts until Sept. 17.
