Cierra Ortega is breaking her silence.
The former ‘Love Island USA’ star has spoken out for the first time after being let go from the dating reality show. theJasmineBRAND previously reported that Cierra was terminated after a racist slur she used in the past resurfaced.
In a TikTok shared Wednesday night (July 9), Cierra said she was making an “accountability video” not an “apology video.”
She said she wasn’t aware that the anti-Asian slur she used was a hurtful word, and added that she removed it from social media as soon as a fan made her aware of it.
Cierra apologized to the Asian community and those who were hurt and offended by her use of the word.
She agreed with the show’s decision to let her go, before addressing the backlash she’s received following her exit.
She revealed her family doesn’t feel safe in their homes, and that ICE has been called on her relatives.
She ultimately wants the ordeal to be a learning lesson for herself and others, she said as she ended her video.
