Reports state that the 30-year-old boxing star was taken into custody in Miami Beach before being transported to the Doral Police Department, the city where he’s accused of physically assaulting an ex-girlfriend. Gervonta reportedly had a four-year relationship with the woman, with whom he shares two children, and had gone to her residence in Doral to pick up the kids on Father’s Day.
However, the two allegedly got into an explosive verbal argument, prompting Gervonta to tell the woman to remove the children from his car, saying he no longer intended to take them. According to the woman, as she leaned in to grab one of the kids, the boxer struck her in the back of the head and then smacked her across the face, causing a cut to her lip.
She says she texted her mother to come outside, and when her mom arrived, she saw her daughter visibly in distress as they argued and began recording video, during which Gervonta allegedly threw a small box at his ex.
He was arrested on a battery charge, and according to jail records, his bail is currently listed as “to be set.”
As of now, no one from Gervonta’s team has publicly addressed the situation.
