Inmate Mistakenly Released From Same New Orleans Jail Where 10 Men Escaped In May
The Orleans Parish Justice Center just can’t seem to catch a break.
Over the weekend, news broke that a man named Khalil Bryan was mistakenly released from the facility. Due to a clerical error, officials confused Bryan with another inmate who had a similar last name. Bryan’s rap sheet is lengthy and reportedly includes charges such as possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer, home invasion, aggravated assault, and domestic abuse.
At a press conference, Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson gave “a sincere apology to the people of New Orleans” and took “full responsibility” for the release. Hutson also noted that staff working during the mishap will face questioning and possible disciplinary action, as this was a human error.

Unfortunately for the jail, this isn’t the first slip-up to occur this year. As reported, in May, ten inmates escaped from the facility through a hole in the wall behind a cell toilet. To date, one man, Derrick Groves, remains at large.
Yikes…what are your thoughts on this crazy situation?
