Soulja Boy Released From Jail, Charges Stemming From G*n Arrest Dropped Due To Lack Of Evidence
Soulja Boy caught a major legal break after his latest arrest, with Los Angeles prosecutors declining to file charges.
“A case was declined due to insufficient evidence,” a spokesperson for the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office told Rolling Stone. Jail records show the rapper was released Tuesday afternoon, shortly before 2 p.m.
The 35-year-old, born DeAndre Cortez Way, was arrested early Sunday near Melrose Avenue, close to his SODMG clothing store. According to LAPD, officers pulled over a vehicle he was riding in and booked him on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a f*rearm. Authorities have not disclosed what led to the stop.
The arrest adds to Soulja Boy’s history of legal troubles. In April, a jury awarded $4 million to a former girlfriend who accused him of a$$ault and harassment. He also has a 2014 conviction for carrying a loaded weapon.
