Ashli Babbitt, The Jan. 6 Rioter Who Was Fatally shot At The Capitol, To Receive A Funeral w/ Military Honors
A Jan. 6 rioter will now receive a funeral with military honors.
The Air Force announced that Ashli Babbitt, who was fatally $hot during the Capitol insurrection, will be honored. The decision reverses a previous ruling during the Biden administration.
Air Force Under Secretary Matthew Lohmeier said he was “persuaded that the previous determination was incorrect” after reviewing the circumstances of her de@th. Military honors will include the playing of taps and the folding and presentation of the American flag by an honor guard.

Babbitt was $hot by U.S. Capitol Police Lt. Michael Byrd while attempting to climb through a shattered glass door in the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Byrd, cleared of any wrongdoing, said he acted as a “last resort” to protect lawmakers, staff, and other officers.
