North Carolina Election Official Allegedly Slipped C*caine Into Granddaughters’ Dairy Queen Blizzard + Faces Felony Child Abu$e Charges
A North Carolina election official is under fire after allegedly dr*gging his teenage granddaughters’ Dairy Queen Blizzards.
James Edwin Yokeley Jr., 66, is facing felony child ab*se charges, possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of contaminating food or drink with a controlled substance.
Wilmington police say Yokeley flagged down officers on Aug. 8 after his granddaughters, ages 15 and 16, found “hard objects” in their Blizzards. The pills later tested positive for c*caine and MDMA.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage that allegedly showed Yokeley placing the pills into the milkshakes. The girls did not ingest them.
Yokeley was arrested on Aug. 26 and released on a $100,000 bond. He has not entered a plea and is due in court on Sept. 11.
He resigned as chair of the Surry County Board of Elections the same day the state board called an emergency meeting. In his resignation letter, he claimed he had been “falsely accused” and expected to be “exonerated.”
