During her postgame remarks, Wilson said, “I was honestly disgusted by the comments that Cathy made.” She didn’t stop there — she also expressed gratitude for Collier’s role in advocating for players: “I’m very appreciative that we have people like Phee … representing us.”
Wilson affirmed her loyalty to Collier with a strong promise: “I’m going to ride with Phee, always.” ?She acknowledged Collier’s business acumen — “she is a business girly” — and stressed the importance of unity in upcoming negotiations, saying: “Moving forward, we gotta continue to stand on business as we talk about this CBA negotiation.”
Collier’s statement had brought to light comments allegedly made by Commissioner Cathy Engelbert, including that elite players like Caitlin Clark should be “grateful” because “without the platform the WNBA gives her, she wouldn’t make anything.” Collier also claimed that Engelbert said players should be “on their knees thanking their lucky stars” for the media rights deal she secured.
In backing Collier, Wilson joined a chorus of voices in the league calling for accountability and stronger representation for players.
