Former NFL Star Adrian Peterson Arrested in Texas on DWI and G*n Charges – His 2nd This Year

Former NFL running back Adrian Peterson is currently being held in a Texas jail following his arrest on Sunday morning in the Houston suburb of Sugar Land, where he is charged with driving while intoxicated and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

According to records from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, Peterson remained behind bars Monday after the Sunday incident.

This marks his second DWI arrest in 2025. In April, he was stopped in Minnesota for allegedly driving 83 mph in a 55 mph zone and registered a blood-alcohol content of .14 — nearly twice the legal limit in that state.

Peterson, 40, enjoyed an outstanding career — including a league MVP award in 2012 and several rushing records — before retiring after 15 seasons, the bulk spent with the Minnesota Vikings.

The arrest raises fresh concerns given his past legal entanglements. Officials have not yet released full details of the incident in Sugar Land.
