Former NBA Star Jalen Rose Blasts Celebrities Who Only Support HBCUs For The Cameras: ‘They Never Write A Check’

Former NBA star Jalen Rose is calling out celebrities who publicly show love to historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) but allegedly fail to support them financially.

Rose took to X to criticize what he believes is performative support for Black education.

“It always makes me laugh when celebrities(use)act like they support HBCU’s for the camera when they never write a check or support black high schools,” he tweeted.

Although Rose didn’t name anyone specifically, his message raises questions about whether celebrity involvement with HBCUs goes beyond photo opportunities and public appearances.

The former basketball star is making it clear that real support requires action.
