Dallas Cowboys Player Marshawn Kneeland, 24, Passes Away 2 Days After Scoring 1st Touchdown

Update #1: #MarshawnKneeland, a defensive end for the #DallasCowboys, passed from an apparent self-inflicted g*nsh*t wound in Frisco, Texas.

According to dispatch audio obtained by TMZ, the incident began late Wednesday night (Nov. 5) when his girlfriend contacted police after receiving alarming messages from him. She told authorities that the 24-year-old struggled with mental health issues and warned he would “end it all.”

#MarshawnKneeland, a 24-year-old defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys, has tragically passed away. “It is with extreme sadness that the #DallasCowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning,” the team said. “Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.”

Marshawn was in his second #NFL season after being selected in the second round of the 2024 draft from #WesternMichiganUniversity. Just days before his death, he recovered a blocked punt and scored a touchdown in Monday night’s game. His agent said, “Marshawn poured his heart into every snap, every practice and every moment on the field.” He added: “To lose someone with his talent, spirit and goodness is a pain I cannot put into words… My heart aches for his family, his teammates and everyone who loved him.”
