Diddy’s Ex-Videographer GOES OFF – Says Leaked Footage Was Taken Without Permission
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ former videographer is speaking out after behind-the-scenes footage of the embattled music mogul leaked online — clips that were later amplified in the hit Netflix docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning, produced by 50 Cent.
In a statement first provided to Rolling Stone, videographer Michael Oberlies blasted the use of the material, claiming it was taken without permission while he was out of state and was never meant for the public.
“Taking footage intended for our project to advance a narrative that was not our own is both unethical and unacceptable,” Oberlies said, making it clear that the leaked videos were pulled from a long-form documentary he and his team had quietly been working on for more than two years.
According to Oberlies, the footage “was never cleared for release” and wasn’t tied to any dispute or payment issue — insisting the material was simply taken and repurposed as Combs continues to face mounting legal turmoil.
The leaked clips circulated widely after the debut of Sean Combs: The Reckoning, directed by Alexandria Stapleton. The Netflix series drew huge viewership — pulling 21 million views worldwide in its first week on the platform.
Oberlies says he’s speaking up now because the footage was used in a context he and his team never approved, adding that their own project was still in development when the material surfaced.
