Dawn Richard Says Danity Kane May Never Fully Reunite After Tour Fallout
Dawn Richard says she’s just as disappointed as fans when it comes to Danity Kane’s missing pieces. While Aubrey O’Day, Aundrea Fimbres, and D. Woods recently kicked off The Untold Chapter Tour, Dawn says she — along with fellow founding member Shannon Bex — was left off the lineup, despite the group’s history as a platinum-selling five-piece.
The tour launched earlier this month and has been hitting stages across the country, but fans quickly noticed the absence of Dawn and Shannon. Dawn later took to social media to reveal she was snubbed from the reunion, sparking even more questions about what really went down behind the scenes.
Addressing the situation head-on, Dawn spoke out during a recent appearance on the Cocoism podcast. Pushing back on the narrative surrounding her role in the group, she said, “I’m nowhere near perfect, but I’m not the person they say I am,” adding that she doesn’t like being portrayed as “the villain.”
Dawn made it clear she had no hand in planning the tour, explaining, “I wasn’t involved; I was iced out of this one. That’s a choice [they made], but I’m not going to go back and forth and be messy and call myself ‘the mother’ [of the group because I came up with the name]. I wish it could be all five of us.”
She went on to say she’s “saddened by the reality” that all members aren’t participating and admitted she’s unsure if the group will ever reach a place where they can mend fences and collaborate creatively again — leaving the future of a full Danity Kane reunion very much up in the air.
