Jermaine Dupri Revisits Why He Believes Nipsey Hussle Was ‘Jesus’
Jermaine Dupri is revisiting a statement that once sent shockwaves through social media — and he’s standing firm on what he meant.
In a recent Substack post, the So So Def founder reflected on a resurfaced tweet from the day of Nipsey Hussle’s funeral that read, “I believe Nip was Jesus. ”
The remark, which later went viral again after being shared by Curtiss King, originally sparked backlash from religious voices online.
“For some reasons every time I say something people get upset and really bent out of shape. I just be speaking my mind,” Dupri wrote. He explained that watching Nipsey’s impact firsthand led him to his belief, adding, “He made peace amongst people in LA that normally ain’t on that… He also didn’t have The Biggest hit records but his presence was felt like Snoop.”
Dupri compared Nipsey’s influence to biblical themes, writing, “The Bible notes even his disciples didn’t recognize him at first.” He later added, “I believe many wouldn’t recognize him due to modern skepticism… I mean, it’s just my thoughts was yours ?”
