Internet Star-Turned-Grammy-Winning Producer Jay Versace Shuts Down Claims Druski Stole Concept Of Coulda Been Records From Him: ‘I Wasn’t Attached To The Idea
There’s no drama between Jay Versace and #Druski.
#JayVersace, who first built a loyal online following with comedy skits before leveling up into a successful music producer, is clearing the air about who really came up with the concept behind Druski’s mock label, Coulda Been Records. The conversation started after a fan accused Druski of swiping the idea for his viral talent show, where hopefuls audition for a shot at signing to CBR, from Jay’s earlier comedic content.
Jay addressed it head-on, admitting that while he “was the first person to do the record label talent shows on IG during COVID,” he wasn’t fully invested because he was focused on transitioning out of comedy at the time. Making it clear there’s no bad blood, he added, “honestly salute to druski & ion feel like its stealing cause i wasnt attached to the idea.” Since then, #Druski has turned CBR into a major success and recently secured a role as a commentator on the singing competition show The Voice.
