Lil Uzi Vert Admits He Feared Dying Before Dropping Music, Addresses 1,000+ Leaks

@thejasminebrand : Lil Uzi Vert is stepping back into the spotlight — and the mind of the Philly star is just as unpredictable as ever.

In a rare sit-down for Dazed Digital’s Spring 2026 issue, Uzi posed inside the May Van Alen House — a Victorian brownstone on Manhattan’s Upper East Side — rocking black-and-pink dreads, a Dior Bar jacket, wide white trousers and a gold “MUSEUM” necklace. The rapper even climbed onto a dining room table holding a chandelier during the shoot. Notably, Uzi hadn’t done a single written interview in 2025 before this feature.

Musically, Uzi says 2slimey “took the end of 2025,” adding, “I can’t even think about nobody else.” The rapper also teased more music on the way, revealing plans to drop another track titled “What You Saying.” Uzi admitted to previously holding back music, saying, “Yeah, I thought about it. I was being selfish for a long time, holding my music and shit. I’m like, ‘What if I just wake up and die? Who’s gonna drop my music for me if I’m dead?’”

While Uzi says they don’t worry about dying, they did confess a different fear: being the last person on Earth. “A bout dying? Nah, I don’t worry about dying at all. But I’ll say that what I really do worry about is being the last person on Earth,” Uzi said, later adding, “What if everyone dies? What if this room doesn’t exist and I’m still alive? That’s bad.”

The rapper also addressed fan expectations and leaks — with more than a thousand unreleased songs reportedly surfacing this year. “Nah, the singles is for the streets,” Uzi said, explaining that fans criticize both mainstream and trap records. “They be trying to make it like we supposed to drop one album a year.” Despite pressure, Uzi says curiosity keeps them moving creatively, even noting an interest in hearing what people are listening to in Indonesia.

And if Uzi has their way, goth is out and something new is coming in. “Steampunk. Steampunk. Because everything’s too goth, so we’re gonna make it more steampunk,” the rapper declared. Offstage, Uzi says their world revolves around a tight circle: “Yeah, well we got our own family. Me, JT and Baby Skrill. We got a Xolo dog, he’s naked.”
