Janet Jackson Reportedly Criticizes ‘Michael’ Biopic During Private Family Screening, Sparking Heated Phone Call w/ Brother Jermaine Jackson
Tension is reportedly brewing within the Jackson family following a private screening of the upcoming “Michael” biopic, with Janet Jackson and her brother Jermaine Jackson allegedly clashing over the film during a heated phone call.
According to a source close to the family, the disagreement began shortly after relatives gathered in Los Angeles last week to preview the highly anticipated movie, which is set to hit theaters next month. While most family members reportedly praised the project, Janet was said to be highly critical of the film, sparking friction with Jermaine, who strongly supported the production.
The conflict may carry deeper roots than differing opinions about the movie. One insider claimed, “Janet’s always been insanely jealous of Michael, and her career is in the toilet.”
Jermaine’s son, Jaafar Jackson, portrays the late King of Pop in the film, which was produced by the Michael Jackson estate. That connection reportedly added another layer to the family’s debate over the project.
According to the source, Janet was the only family member to react negatively following the screening. Even her boyfriend reportedly praised the movie, telling those in attendance, “Now that’s a movie.”
Other relatives — including family matriarch Katherine Jackson — are said to support the film. Reports also indicate Janet was offered a chance to participate in the production but declined, and she is not featured in the final film.
