[Update] NFL Rookie James Pearce Jr. Has Aggravated B*ttery On Officer Charge Dropped + Prosecutors Still Pursuing Other Counts In Rickea Jackson Case
Legal troubles for Atlanta Falcons defensive end James Pearce Jr. have taken a partial turn after prosecutors dropped one of the most serious charges tied to his recent arrest.
According to court documents, the 22-year-old is no longer facing an aggravated b*ttery charge involving a law enforcement officer. A spokesperson for the district attorney’s office said that after reviewing the available evidence, prosecutors determined they could not prove the allegation beyond a reasonable doubt.
While the dropped charge removes a potential five-year prison risk, Pearce’s legal battle is far from over. Authorities are still pursuing several other charges, including stlking, fleeing and eluding police, resisting an officer with volence, and aggravated bttery with a dadly we*pon.
Pearce was arrested in Florida last month following an alleged domestic dispute involving WNBA player Rickea Jackson. Investigators claim he chased her in his Lamborghini and slammed into her vehicle while she was driving to a police station.
Jackson later sought a restraining order, writing she was “in fear for my life.” Pearce’s attorney has not publicly commented on the update.
