Michael B. Jordan is getting his flowers from many, including legendary actor and singer #JamieFoxx.
Sunday night, Michael B. Jordan made history as the sixth Black man to win the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role. The actor earned the honor for his dual roles in #RyanCoogler’s Sinners, and during his acceptance speech, he took a moment to thank the Black actors who paved the way before him, including Jamie Foxx, Sidney Poitier, and Denzel Washington. Shortly after, Jamie hopped on Instagram to celebrate the milestone, sharing several posts dedicated to Michael’s big win. In one message, he wrote, “Words can’t express how proud I am of you. You deserve this and so much more. Congratulations my brother.”
In another post, Jamie said, “I can barely breathe right now… you were absolutely incredible in this film. An amazing actor, an amazing director — truly all of the above. Tonight we celebrate you: your talent, your mystique, and your incredible passion for the craft.” He continued, “You deserve two Oscars for this one. When I sat down to watch the movie, I already knew it was going to be special the moment I saw a pair of Jordans on screen.”
Sinners dominated this year’s Oscars with 16 nominations, the most in the ceremony’s history. The film ultimately walked away with four awards: Best Actor in a Leading Role (#MichaelBJordan), Best Original Screenplay (Ryan Coogler), Best Cinematography (Autumn Durald Arkapaw), and Best Original Score (Ludwig Göransson).
